Jacka & Julie or simply the Feisty girls
I find the time when the sun begins to set is the BEST time to take pictures with available outdoor light. Generally that is true for all outdoor shots, but I feel that for portraits it is especially so because it gives the pictures a golden look. Everything becomes warm and pleasing.

Not all Cards & Card Readers are created equal
A lot of people believe that the speed at which you transfer images from you camera to your computer cannot be any faster. Well, did you know that card readers come in all different sizes, prices and differ in transfer speeds? To speed up the transfer process, use only card readers labeled USB 2.0 as USB 1.0 readers will be much slower. Even within USB 2.0 readers there is a tremendous variance in transfer speeds. Some readers can be twice as fast. The card you are using and even your computer may make a big difference in transfer speed. If you are really looking to improve your transfer times, check out this wonderful resource I came across some time ago for checking out cards, readers and systems as far as transfer speed goes. Unfortunately, Rob Galbraith page has not been updated in a while but still provides plenty of information. Check it out here.

Sunset
The best images of sunsets that I take are from our sail boat, this one including. We recently went sailing with our 11 months old for two weeks. The weather cooperated and so did the little one. More details and pictures from the trip to come.

Black & White
There is something special about black & white photography. As for me, not only does it bring on nostalgia about the good old childhood days but it also is more pleasing. There is nothing to distract you from the composition.
