Undecided on how I should feel about this...

I think I am beginning to get disappointed as I find FREE and publicly available instructional manuals with pictures and text identical to those from yesterdays "Light, Color, Technology" class on Nikon's website. I am disappointed because I just paid $159 for exactly the same thing. The difference is that I also got a presentation as well from Bill Durrence and Nick Didlick. However, as I find more material, I may change my recommendation and just suggest you look these materials up and save $159 on the class towards better use.

  1. Irene--Thank you for such kind comments about our Nikon School program in your previous two posts, but I do feel the need to quibble a little about this one. The only material from our Sunday school program that is available free on the Nikon website is a partial element of the Light section. Nikon World Online has the basic description of light that I do in the school, but that is an ezine that will only have that information up for a brief period of time and not the length of the school year. Also, that section alone contained much more information, particularly about how to use the Nikon CLS wireless flash system, and that is not part of the article.

Also the other sections on planning and packing for a trip, effective use of lenses and camera position, color management topics throughout the day, editing and output techniques--none of that material is on the website. The value of the school is also in the presentation techniques which help some people understand things that they have more difficulty reading for comprehension. And the school offered opportunities to ask questions not only of Nick and I, but representatives from Nikon, SanDisk and X-Rite.

Obviously I'm biased, but I do think the school offers value for the fee charged. I wish you the best in your photography and thank you again for the positive comments in your posts. bd

  2. I agree that the school offered a lot of valuable information and enjoyed sitting through both of the presentations. There was certainly a lot more coverage than that offered on Nikon World Online website. I also agree, as I myself am one of those people who learn better through presentation rather than reading, that the classes were a tremendous help. Thank you for visiting and your comment.
